How to help your eyebrows grow back

Our eyebrows are pretty important. Not only do we need them for expression but they frame and give balance to the face.

With the comeback of the fuller, fluffier brow they have become an essential part of our daily makeup and grooming routine and many won’t leave the house without them! But what about those of us who over plucked, lost our eyebrows or weren’t blessed with full eyebrows in the first place? This blog outlines how to get thicker healthier brows and even help your eyebrows grow back!

Why have I got thinning or sparse eyebrows?

Firstly, let’s start by saying there are a number of reasons why you may find yourself with little or no eyebrow hairs. Sadly our brows become thinner and more sparse as we age. You may have simply over-plucked when trying past eyebrow trends like ‘The Twiggy’ or ‘The Pamela Anderson’ or perhaps have a medical condition that affects hair growth.  Regardless of whether you have a health condition or not, everyone’s hair grows back at different rates! Climate, diet, and hormones can all affect hair growth as does a person’s age, so it’s important to note that there’s no hard and fast rule as to how to get your eyebrows to grow back. Genes play an important part too. If you didn’t inherit full brows from your parents and have full brows when you were 12, then it is unlikely that you can magically grow new follicles but you can stop them from thinning with age. And if you did have full brows and lost them, and the follicles aren’t dead, then there is hope for you. There’s no overnight quick-fix however we hope the tips and advice in this blog will help speed things up a little!

Patience is key to eyebrow regrowth!

It can take 18 months for brows to grow back properly and it probably comes as no surprise to hear that time and patience are key to seeing substantial hair regrowth. During the regrowth stage, we highly recommend stepping away from the tweezers and leaving any plucking, threading or waxing to a brow professional. Eyebrow professionals can begin to map out the best shape for your brows based on your face shape whilst you go through your regrowth journey. (To get an idea on what eyebrow shape suits your face, have a read of our blog.) It can be tempting to pluck the odd ‘unruly’ eyebrow hair but it’s important to leave them alone. Those odd hairs may look like random strays but are needed and may be the making of the brow shape that you want to achieve!! So… leave them well alone! To stop you being tempted to pluck them out filling sparse gaps between those hairs with make up so they don’t look unsightly.

Serums for the win!

There are vitamin-based products that can be used to help your eyebrows grow back. It is worth investing in some brow and lash serum that is rich in Biotin. Biotin is also known as Vitamin H and it is part of the Vitamin B family. Research on Biotin/Vitamin H is limited, however, there is research out there which suggests that it helps speed up hair regrowth. Because of this, it is now becoming increasingly popular in the beauty industry. We would suggest a Biotin rich serum, applied directly on the brows to not only encourage new hair growth but to moisturise them as they come through, reducing breakage.

EyebrowQueen Brow Serum

EyebrowQueen have just launched their very own ‘Brow Serum’ which is a super cocktail of scientifically proven ingredients to nourish hair follicles and promote healthier, stronger hair growth. As well as Myristoyl Pentapeptide to thicken and Biotin (which helps strengthen the Keratin, the key structural material making up hair and nails), EyebrowQueens new Brow Serum contains a number of growth-enhancing properties. It contains Sodium Hylauronate and  Panax ginseng root which is made up of 38 different antioxidants that nourish the hair follicles and the area around them. It also contains Panthenol and Amino acid which conditions the hairs as they grow. The Brow Serum will not only prevent hair loss and enhance the thickness of the brow hairs that grow through, it will also help stimulate growth in areas that are sparse or thinning because of ingredients such as Euglena Gracilis and Vitis Vinifera (grape extract).

Apply one drop of EyebrowQueens Brow Serum onto clean skin twice daily to the base of the hair follicle on the brows or lash line using the applicator provided.

The Brow Serum is suitable for use on both eyebrows and lashes.

It comes in a sizeable 20ml hygienic dropper bottle containing over 6 times more product compared to the average 3ml growth serums on the market, giving you more product for your pound!

TOP TIP : Add a few drops into your favourite mascara to give your lashes a little extra boost daily.

A Biotin rich diet can help hair growth!

As well as using serums, it’s a good idea to increase your daily intake of Biotin to assist with your eyebrow hair regrowth. These days there are many ways in which you can do this. Whether you decide to take a powder supplement, a multivitamin high in Biotin, or alternatively add more Biotin-rich foods to your diet (such as whole grains, meats, and nuts), an increase in your daily intake will certainly help speed things along.

Supplements rich in Biotin can help with hair growth.

Make the most of what you have and tint it!

During the regrowth phase, there is nothing stopping you making the most of the eyebrows you already have, by getting them tinted at a salon. Tint is like a really gentle version of hair dye and can make your brows will appear darker and by dyeing all those fine fluffy hairs giving the illusion of a fuller brow. If you don’t fancy tinting then using a coloured brow mascara can make them look fuller. Our brow motto is – “fake it till you make it!”. The Eyebrowqueen Brow Colour boost wraps each hair making it look thicker and has fibres that stick to the finest hairs to make them look thicker. Also make good use of an eyebrow pencil to fill in empty gaps whilst they grow. The EyebrowQueen Brow Pro pencil has a self-sharpening tip that allows you to draw the most precise hair strokes. Drawing fine feathery lines in the direction of the hair growth will make the pencil lines look more natural and real.
